Making Your Internet/Computer Faster

I have found many ways of making my Internet/Computer faster...

Here you can see your internet speed (note: This may not be completely accurate, but should be pretty close. In order to get the most accurate results, you might want to average 3 different results together, during 3 different times of the day)

1. Getting Mozilla Firefox (although some might disagree, it made my internet faster)

2. Getting Open DNS (merely 1 setback that I have found- if you type something in your URL box that isn’t a website, it will involuntarily go to their search engine. It’s worth it nevertheless. Just follow the effortless steps.)

3. Getting Unblocka(No flaws found yet... Just download it and you are finished)

4. Deleting Browsing History and Cookies... 

a. Click Start button.

b. Then on the right hand side click on Control Panel.

c. Click Network and Internet. (Skip step if using XP)

d. Click Internet options. (Skip if using Vista) 

e. Click delete browsing history and cookies.

f. Now a Box will pop up. Under Browsing History click delete. (There is an easier way, but that way does not work in Firefox.)

5. Get a security program and run it!!

6. Download Win DirStat and run it- this will let you see all of the big files on your computer so you can get rid of all the stuff that you don’t need!

7. Run Ccleaner- this will get rid of all the junk in your computer!

8. Defragment your hard drive- if you don’t know what defragmenting is you can find it in the FAQ page. This is almost guaranteed to make your Computer faster.

a. Click Start and then Click My Computer

b. Now you shall see a list of drives you want to you want to RIGHT CLICK on the drive that ends with (C:) it will probably called local disk, but it might not

c. Now that you have RIGHT CLICKED on the C drive you can then select Properties, then you shall see a box pop up with tabs at the top, click on the tools tab.

d. Now click Defragment Now...

e. (Note: I recommend you start this before you go to sleep because if this is the first time you have defragmented, then it probably will take a while...)

f. The rest is self explanatory...

9. Another way to make your computer boot up faster is to get rid of programs that run automatically, Some of these might include AIM, QuickTime, and iTunes.

10. Scanning your hard drive using only what Windows provided (FREE)

a. Click Start and then Click My Computer

b. Now you shall see a list of drives you want to you want to RIGHT CLICK on the drive that you want to scan

c. Select properties and then on the top click tools tab at the top.

d. Now click check now...

e. And then check the boxes and scan it your done!

NOTE: I cannot guarantee that these will make your Internet/Computer any faster. Although it worked for me, it might not work for you. I actually doubled my internet speed.
